Cycle disturbances: when your period runs your life

Cycles that are too short, too long, too heavy or too painful are common, but they are not something you simply have to live with. Often hormones, metabolism or the thyroid are involved.

Does this sound familiar?

  • “My period comes every two to three weeks, or I never know when it will come.”

  • “My bleeding is so heavy that I plan my day around the next toilet.”

  • “I have spotting between my periods.”

  • “My period pain is so strong that I can’t work.”

How we approach it

We look at your cycle pattern, your hormones, your thyroid and your metabolism together. If you wish, we track your cycle with you to see what is really happening. Heavy or changed bleeding should first be examined by a gynaecologist, to rule out causes such as fibroids or polyps. We work alongside your gynaecologist.
